Visit to see progress
Visit to Ysgol Carreg Hir to see the progress.
news
Dear Parent, Carers and Friends,
I am taking this opportunity to write to you with further updates regarding Ysgol Carreg Hir. We are now only 8 months away from completion and for those who pass the site regularly you will have noticed significant changes and progress. There will be two Insets planned for the 3rd and 4th September and then we will have a staggered start for children (further details to follow)
Staffing
Mrs Samantha Evans has been appointed as deputy head teacher of the school, the majority of the teaching and non-teaching staff currently at the three schools will also be moving across so I am very confident that each and every one of the children will have a familiar friendly face to greet them when they start.
School uniform
Our uniform and badge have been designed by the children and we now have a sample to share with you. The uniform will consist of red jumpers (round neck only) and cardigans with white polo t-shirts and black trousers or skirts. Around Easter time I will arrange for the supplier to visit each school with a sample of uniform and ordering instructions. It would be wonderful to see every pupil in Ysgol Carreg Hir wearing a bright, newly designed uniform.
Admission
For pupils who are currently attending Brynhyfryd, Llansawel or Ynysmaerdy there will be an automatic transfer to Ysgol Carreg Hir, therefore there will be no additional paper work to complete.
Breakfast club
The Governing Body of Ysgol Carreg Hir has agreed that there will be a breakfast club facility at the school. This will be offered to pupils from Reception to Year 6 and will start at 8.30 am.
School Day
The school day will start at 8.50am and finish at 3.05 pm. There will be two separate nursery sessions, morning nursery will run from 8.50am until 11am and the afternoon session will run from 1pm until 3.10pm
Website
We are currently working on establishing a new school website and then further information can be shared with you.
I am looking forward to working with you all over the coming months to ensure the transition for your children is as smooth and exciting as we can possibly make it.
Warm regards
Mrs Lesley Hynes (Headteacher)
