Our brand new school opened in September 2018 as a result of the closure of Brynhyfryd Primary school, Llansawel Primary School and Ynysmaerdy Primary School.
We are in the heart of the village of Briton Ferry and the school is set in a large site with its own playing fields and large playground. It provides an exciting and innovative learning environment designed to a high specification to meet the needs of the local community.
At Ysgol Carreg Hir we believe in working in partnership with families, staff, Governers and the community. This is reflected in our motto
“Together if we believe we can achieve.”

At Ysgol Carreg Hir we use ClassDojo as our main method of communication with parents and carers.
Through ClassDojo, families can receive important school and class updates directly from teachers and school leaders. Information is shared regularly throughout the year, ensuring that parents receive timely news about learning, events, trips, celebrations, reminders and key school information.
We encourage all parents and carers to download the ClassDojo app and ensure they are connected to their child’s class so they do not miss important messages. ClassDojo allows us to share information quickly and efficiently, giving families a continuous insight into school life and their child’s learning experiences.
We do not receive any messages from parents through the app. If you need to speak to someone, please contact the school office (by telephone or email) or see your child’s teacher in person.
Alongside ClassDojo updates, the school will continue to share important whole-school information, including attendance updates, safeguarding reminders, pupil voice news and other key announcements.
